Screensaver- Maze

This animation project is inspired by Rem Koolhas' Junk Space. The area is divided by walls that look like a maze when people walk through it. The objects around the walls obscure the viewer's perception of the internal and external spaces: walls that are surrounded by trees and vehicles provide a view of city streets, while those furniture’s like beds and shelves make those walls belong to an indoor environment. In China, there is a long-standing residential type called Siheyuan Building, whose function produces a similar type of space that blurs the boundaries between indoor and outdoor environments. The courtyard is always in the center of the residence. Similarly, in this animation, people are feeling the office environment, and then after turning a corner, there is a courtyard view with green space. According to Koolhaas’s Junk Space, this endless wall-structure can be considered junk space. It creates a continuity for the space and does not have a strong identity for itself. However, this kind of "junk space" is widely used in modern society. Spaces between these walls are flexible that can be easily defined by its surrounding objects. In this maze, walls have created spaces like rooms, corridors, blocks, and streets which everybody is familiar with.
